                                                                                                Update on zoning issues

 

I.                    DD Coordinator's Report - Sandra Butts

A.     Applications  P service $ 2004 got in; reviewing next 3-4 weeks and making recommendations.  2004 Questions:

B.     Budget held over per finance committee - have no final 2004 position

C.     Changes with 2003 deficits - loss in staff 12-14 in DD area and resource center

1.      Joan Kennedy (DOA now)

2.      Janet Padera (Resource center now)

3.      Sheila Kelly - long term loss supp.

4.      Olivia Clark

 

                        Heavily reassigning and realigning case load (letters coming out)

                        289-5915     289-6660  general #s can be called or supervisors with issues

            D. Next year and anticipated changes - 2004 case management services for      outside contracts will be sought

            E. Staff availability will be hard

            F. Harthside 39 people: 12/31/03 still date

                        1. 11 people have concerns for availability

                        2. Mary Mitchell and Becky Peer all striving to clear this

                        3. David Walters (Harthside) was his focus and now lost him to physical                                    disabilities and there will be new names and faces helping.

                        4. Guardian meeting went well, everyone doing well with guardian                                  response - anticipated concerns with guardians but no concerns thanks to                           Providers

                        5. All have support systems except for (1).

                        6. As we move people - stay on top of situations that may arise with the                                    change and move.

                        7. Mary and Becky follow ups support collaborative from health/only med                     perspectives

                        8. Aware of psychiatric eval. Problems: trying to push with the state: will                                    announce a meeting to discuss this.

                        9. Good/Positive feedback for the whole system.

            G. RFP for CBRF and 3-4 bed 2 week November will have letter coming out.

 

II.                 General Issues:

A.     Update Addresses for minutes and agenda

B.     Rock Pledl - Attorney - update on zoning issues

1.      Looking into actions against city Milw.  10/02 - still enforcing zoning and added transitional living facilities

III.               Reports/Updates

A.     Treasurer's Report - Tom Nowak: not much activity  $2677.84 balance; closing out 2003 dues; start sending 2004 dues

B.     Milwaukee Training Initiative - Rosy and Linda WG Mason

1.      10/23 9-Noon  Goodwill Main - Brian Lyuries (?) - Med Behavioral Aspects; 11/18 Epilepsy, 10-11:30 Boy Scouts of America

2.      Busy planning 2004 calendar and affirm dates: Challenging Behaviors - Pat Fabian; Autism 201 - more advanced; Aging and DD; Corrections and DD; Self Advocate; Dual Diagnosis/ex. Breakfast; 1 day conference; epilepsy 101.  Fliers come in mailing and MADDSA and website.

C.     Southeast WI Regional - Martha DeGraw

1.      11/13 Dual Diagnosis  MR & MI  Kenosha County Center $5; 12/3 Care for Care Giver  Waukesha Goodwill Site  $10

2.      Kind Care Flyers and announcements; also 10/17 and one was in Oct. - cal Bob

3.      Survey is out for Southeast for 2004 needs

4.      Last meeting November 13, 2003.  Plan 2004

5.      Repeated mission and collaborative efforts with MTI; always looking for new members; provide about 6 trainings a year

D.     Transition Committee - Jane Sport, Barbara Ross

1.      Requested pass out notes/memos

2.      Met 10/9 attendance low - but announced late

3.      Decisions made on how to make attendance rise:  evenings so parents/teachers etc, each teacher 3 phone calls to solicit, peer with no disability attend with a student, principal to encourage attendance, video sessions for those who can't make it                                          11/19  6-8 PM  Quad Graphics  555 HWY 100  (employment, MCFI, Social Services, 774-6255 if questions)

4.      DVR - 7200 on waiting list but can be referred

5.      Computer programming through MPS  11/25  UCP  1PM

E.      Multicultural Affairs Committee - Gene Hughs

1.      Reviewing surveys and program directories; decided to utilize current resources instead of providers (ARCH) due to lack of response

2.      Disbanded committee/resolved unless needed later - may not be a need due to outside resources

3.      Focused on clients' ethnicity, staff ethnicity, male in female dominated staff and other important issues all face day to day.  Efforts well thought about, however pass  7203 W. Center  to (ARC)  774-6255

F.      Disaster Plan - Linda W.G. Mason  -  Cheri Esser: Perry Mueller will again meet and request all interested sign in and will notify you for a meeting

G.     Transportation Subcommittee - Cheri Esser

1.      Trying to find out more on why Transit/Lailaw switch - member states budget approved for larger contracted area etc.

2.      How we've attempted to be heard, no response, will attend Advisory Committee Meetings and at least submit minutes

3.      Complaint/recognition forms with minutes fax and use them; please fax them to HealthSpan INC for documentation as well

4.      Next meeting every 1st Tuesday 9:30 AM at HealthSpan INC - 5520 W. Forest Home Avenue, 541-4700 - Cheri Esser
