a.       Disaster Planning: Threat of Terrorism/Violence

                                                               i.      Link into Community Plan is not answered yet/statewide plan

                                                             ii.      Get ideas from MPS – we need to find what plans are out there

                                                            iii.      NEED CONCRETE PLAN/universal

                                                           iv.      Milwaukee County Emergency Government – get plan – Cheri Esser; see if anyone can come speak

                                                             v.      Share disaster plans

                                                           vi.      National Guard Center; manuals for hospital plans that are active (Midge Consparwitz)

 

b.      HIPPA – next meeting  effective 4/14/03

c.       Civil Rights: new in contracts – Challenging: English as second language issues.

IV.              DD Coordinator Report – Sandra Butts

a.       Harthside Relocation: Contracts:

                                                               i.      Mary Mitchell: based a lot at Harthside –  knows many of the clients from past experience visiting sites in community; 8 moves March: Goal was 10; 11 projected moves for April: Goal no new closing date change yet internal changes to correct some problems and help support adequately.

Residential Sector is overwhelming with calls; 26Agencies that currently have openings/capacity will touch base with vacancy meeting; meeting 2 times weekly Re: Harthside Closing; Geri LyDay/Sandra meeting with City of Milwaukee

            Re: zoning and community problems

                                                             ii.      Care Finders: Becky Peer – Contract helping assess and find how we can support individual in community; Home health agencies – will meet in next 2 weeks

2 new RN’s hired to assist with Becky Peer in process of screening for level of care and training needs.

b. Recreation: Wiloway sites for evening activities; June Agenda for provider meeting

            lack of enrollment

            open discussion/for residential support

            families in community interested in being involved also

c.       In-house changes in ASD – shifting/moving; reorganizing for Resource Center Relative to Provider Pool – not major; Long term support – Resource Center; Case Managers should stay pretty much the same; vacancies to fill unless in freeze situation – OPEN HOUSE or info share; Newsletter  -  NOT TO WAIT LIST

d.      Northern -  4-5 people to move

e.       Case Conversion – active but not too intense – need to know who; KIP waiver transfers still slowly going

f.        2004 Budget Planning

g.       290 Vacancy Meeting  move RMS

h.       Paula – visit to residential sites – felt it went well and feedback was good for support systems; more visits in next few months, Day programs and recreation and residential sites.

V.                 Treasurer Report – Tom Nowak (request year schedule for website)

Keep in mind to let us know if money is an issue for MADDSA

VI.              Training Initiative

a.       Next meeting  4/29; Radley Madison  4/23 – Deadline 4/16; speakers for transition had a hand out of topics if any interests; schools having programs for families- some a lot involved, others none at all

b.      Southeast – Martha

                                                               i.      Kenosha  4/17  9-Noon; $5 Challenging Behaviors

                                                             ii.      On website  MADDSA.org

                                                            iii.      May 15  Ives Grove  194/HWY 200  @ 2PM - next meeting - please feel free to join

c.       MTI: Need to get this on Website – email this to Tom – Conference low cost – still taking registration

4/28  Goodwill – Vogel – support for stuffing; Linda Mason – contact – 489-2413

d.      People can’t wait

                                                               i.      Rally = Big Deal  promote it; ARC Registration  100 people – not a lot (774-6255)

                                                             ii.      Be sure job sites are registering even through jobsite/day programs

                                                            iii.      Parking space is essential for pre-registration

                                                           iv.      T-shirts $5; donation $5 transportation

                                                             v.      Bring a lunch, sent one with client

e.       Workforce Development

                                                               i.      Brochure – printer ready  3000 copies; help to distribute these to direct care professionals; also MADDSA website; school mailings included in this – do it for school promotions: go talk to them

f.        Multicultural Committee

                                                               i.      Kate Wilson – contact Gene Hughes; met and decided on need/focus; target members and finding out need; survey questions

                                                             ii.      Curative Central City  263-6733 – will contact Cheri Esser to add next meeting to minutes for anyone interested
